The UCSD's Early Intervention Program (EIP)

The UCSD EIP Program is a comprehensive program for people who have recently found out they are living with HIV.

EIP isn't new. It started in 1989 to help people with HIV learn how to manage their health. EIP services are now located at the UCSD AVRC.

As part of the EIP Program, you will receive:

  • Medical check ups by HIV experts,
  • Laboratory tests including: T-cell and viral load counts, testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), hepatitis, and more.
  • Individual counseling sessions with a licensed therapist (counselor).
  • Education about positive ways to stay healthy while living with HIV.
  • Help finding a medical provider for follow up care.
  • Referrals to other local services for people with HIV.

Those who are already seeing an HIV medical provider will not qualify for this program.
